Tletci
Lost children of the Mountains
The Tletci were a peoples once native to the southern Begoria Mountain range, nestled between its comforting shadow and the coastline. Experts in stonecraft and agriculture, they carved marvelous cities into the cliffs out of stone and cultivated marvelous crops out of the plains brushed by sea breezes.
But as with all nations beset by the The Night of Falling Crowns, So to did the Tletci fall. Bereft of the protection of the Shimsharian Emirates, and their peoples decimated by bandits and roving bands of mercenaries seeking to shore their supplies and manpower, the Tletci were forced out of their homelands and to safer lands. Even now they hide in corners of the Mortal Lands, waiting until they have the strength to regain their homeland.
People of the Mountains, People of the Plains
The Tletci can be split into two sub-ethnicities; the people of the mountains (Tlec-tep) and the people of the plains (Tlec-zac). Split mostly by geographic region and the industries they specialized in, the two were as one when it came to the world outside their valleys. Still, there are a few defining features that have developed in the two tribes over the centuries. The Tlec-Tep
The Tlec-Zac
The Tlec-tep are the people of the mountains, who carve elaborate stone from the mountains' grip to sell as building material and as curious. Of the two tribes, theirs are the broader-shouldered and surer-footed. Their skin is slightly paler, due to the clouds that frequently bash against the mountains on their travels further inland.
The Tlec-Zac are the people of the plains, who tend the livestock and the crops that grow in the rich valley between the mountains and the sea. Though more narrow-shouldered and slightly shorter than their counterparts, their darker skin belies their days in the sun tending their crops.
Scattered to the Winds
The Tletci had resided in Tlanexti valley for time untold, bridging the gap between the Miran countrymen to the north, and the people of Shimshar to the south. Even after their lands were taken by the Shimharian Emirates, the Tletci were congenial to all who passed through their lands. But then the winds took a sour turn. The last days of the Tletci were marked by the reign of [name redacted] the Blightbringer, whose initial well-intentioned attempt to protect the Tlec-Zac's crops from harm turned to poisoning the very water his people drank. Unable to abide in their ancestral homeland, and the lands now unprotected by their subjugators the Shimarians, the Tletci were forced to scatter to the winds, landing wherever they could find fresh water and solid ground. The valley of Tlanexti, for now, remains uninhabitable and abandoned-curing the land of its blight is but the first in many steps for the Tlecti to reclaim their homeland.
